We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our website visitors; this policy sets out how we will treat your personal information.

Please read this privacy notice carefully as it contains important information on who we are, how and why we collect, store, use and share personal information, your rights in relation to your personal information and on how to contact us and supervisory authorities in the event you have a complaint.

We ask that you read this Policy, and any other privacy or fair-processing notice provided to you on specific occasions, so that you have a clear understanding of how we interact with your personal data. Any other relevant notice or policy supplements, and does not override, any other unless stated.

Please note that our website and services are not intended for children, and that we do not knowingly collect personal data relating to children.

1. Who we are

Draper Lang LLP collects, uses and is responsible for certain personal information about you. When we do so we are regulated under the General Data Protection Regulation which applies across the European Union (including in the United Kingdom) and we are responsible as ‘controller’ of that personal information for the purposes of those laws. We are registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office, which is the UK’s supervisory authority for data protection matters.

Draper Lang LLP is a limited liability partnership with its registered office situated at 12A Hart Street, Henley on Thames, Oxon RG9 2AU. We are a commercial law firm specialising in employment law advice. We are incorporated in England and Wales (this is where we are registered) under LLP number: OC371676.

2. The information we collect and how we use it

Personal data is information about a living individual from which that individual can be identified (whether through one piece of data alone or through a combination of data).

The personal information we collect about you is made up from the information you give to us during your use of our website and services, such as when you submit a message or query via the website.  This may include such information as your name, email address, contact telephone number and other information contained in your message or query such as information about your employer or employment situation.

To process personal data, we must have a lawful basis. We always ensure that this is the case. We gather this information for the following most frequently used legal bases: to allow us to process your queries; to provide you with information requested by you; for administrative or operational reasons relating to the website or our services; for marketing purposes (please see below for further details); for internal analysis and research; to comply with legal and regulatory requirements; and to help detect and deal with crime and unsavoury behaviour.

We may monitor and record communications with you (such as emails) for the purpose of quality assurance, training, fraud prevention and compliance.

The phrase ‘special categories of personal data’ denotes particularly sensitive data to which more stringent processing conditions apply. It comprises data concerning your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, health, sex life or sexual orientation, and genetic data and/or biometric data.

We may collect special categories of personal data, generally in connection with legal advice that we provide. If so, we will ensure we have an appropriate special- category condition to enable us to process it.

We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we fairly consider that we need to use it for another reason and that is compatible with the original purpose. If you wish to receive an explanation as to how the processing for the new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please contact us.

If we need to use your personal data for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and we will explain the legal basis that allows us to do so.

We collect aggregated data for statistical purposes, such as assessing the popularity of certain pages on our website. Aggregated data does not reveal your identity (either directly or indirectly), and is not considered to be personal data. To the extent that we use or combine any aggregated data so that you can be identified, we would treat the aggregated data as personal data and would therefore use it only in accordance with this Policy.

In all cases, we do not collect more data than we believe is necessary.

3. Who we share your personal information with

We may from time to time use agents and service providers to collect, hold and process on our behalf your personal information for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. These agents and service providers act on our instructions and will only use your information as we tell them to.

We will share personal information with law enforcement or other authorities if required by applicable law or we may share your personal information to respond to claims, or to protect our rights, interests, privacy, property or safety where it is necessary to protect your vital interests.

We will not share your personal information with any other third party.
